A History of Our Building

GAP Promo is Located at 1 Washington in Gloucester, MA. A Location with a storied past filled with history and community. It was the first brick building to be built in the city.

It was built in 1810 by James Tappan, a schoolteacher. Tappan operated Tappan's Hotel on the premises, and it served as a major social center for the community. Later owners also operated it as a hotel space, including one who gave it the name "Puritan House"

After that it was taken over as the Blackburn tavern; named after Howard Blackburn – a local icon who despite losing his fingers at sea in 1883, prospered as a businessman. Yearning for adventure, he twice sailed single-handed (quite literally) across the Atlantic Ocean, overcoming his disability and setting record times for the crossing.

Many people still recall fondly their memories at the Blackburn Tavern. We often get visitors who came to the building when they were younger to dance and drink here, or to catch a concert or just to get some good food.

Today the Blackburn Tavern his home to GAP Promo who is making history in its own right. Our founder and president Gayle Piraino founded the company in 2006 bringing along many years of experience with her. GAP Promo is a certified women-owned small business with expertise in the food and beverage industry. February marked our 11^th year. In our 11^th year let us put our experience to work for you! BIG GAME FLAVORS

The big game is right around the corner, and that means it’s time to start planning your party. It means team spirit, appetizers and of course cocktails. Which team are you rooting for? Show some support for your favorite team with these team inspired drink ideas. 

If you’re rooting for New England we recommend the Ol’ Glory.

OL’ GLORY RECIPE

1 ounce watermelon schnapps
1 big splash cranberry juice
1 very thin slice jalapeno or serrano pepper
1 slice lemon
1 slice lime
1 1/2 ounces Lunazul tequila Tequila Profile
1/4 ounce blue curacao
1/2 ounce simple syrup
Watermelon wedge, for garnish (optional)

DIRECTIONS

Mix the schnapps and cranberry juice in a shaker; pour into an ice-filled glass.
Muddle the jalapeno pepper, lemon and lime slices, tequila, blue curacao and simple syrup (to make a batch, dissolve sugar in equal parts hot water and chill) in the shaker. Slowly strain into the glass over the red layer. Garnish with watermelon, if desired.

            ATLANTA GEORGIA PEACH LEMONADE RECIPE

            2oz. Evan Williams Peach Bourbon Profile

             Lemonade

              DIRECTIONS

              Pour over Evan Williams Peach into a glass. Fill the glass with ice and lemonade.

              Add a splash of grenadine for color

We also recommend making a sangria to please all of your party goers. In particular we recommend Black Cherry Sangria! Consisting of Mike’s hard black cherry lemonade and fresh cherries, it’s sure to pack a punch. The drinks are made so it’s time to sit back and try to relax because it’s game time! Warm Up This Season with GAP Promo

New England is a beautiful place to visit, especially during these next few months. During this season New England becomes a winter wonderland. It’s the best time to explore Boston or the picturesque town of Gloucester. Located on the North Shore, it’s the perfect place for shopping, dining, and of course visiting us here at Gap Promo. After a long day out on the town, the snow begins to fall and one of my favorite things to do is cuddle up in a warm blanket, throw on a movie all while enjoying my favorite drink.
